Position Purpose

The Assistant Vice Chancellor for University Advancement (AVC) reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Development, and serves on the senior Development leadership team. The incumbent will oversee development officers in capacities throughout the central development office and campus, forming a hybrid centralized/decentralized Development team that works closely with the Deans and faculty to identify opportunities for private supports.
In conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the AVC will help to create a holistic, strategic and thoughtful approach to the development operation. As a leader on the development team, the AVC will play an important role in helping UCR launch a transformative and comprehensive fundraising campaign.

The UCR development team includes (but is not limited to) director-level development positions in: School of Medicine (SOM)
Graduate School of Education (GSOE)
School of Business Administration (SOBA)
School of Public Policy (SPP)
College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS)
College of History Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS)

Essential Functions

Campaign Leadership- Portfolio Cultivation, Solicitation, and Stewardship 60
Work with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development and the Vice Chancellor for Advancement to develop strategy for the University's schools and colleges including a comprehensive campaign.

Successfully cultivate, solicit and steward a limited, but on-going, portfolio of leadership-gift donors and prospective donors.

Oversee the Gift Acceptance program, including developing gift agreements, endowment proposals, endowed chair approval process, etc., with other members of the development team, faculty and staff.
Constituency Management- Talent Management-Workforce Planning and Development 30
Manage development operational services including budgets, staff recruitment and hiring, and annual work-plan development and staff management performance.

Assess development operations on an on-going basis and work with the development leadership to create and implement value-added programs and procedures that advance the university's fundraising efforts.

Work with colleagues in student affairs, alumni relations, communications, and other relevant units to build a culture of philanthropy among students, alumni, faculty, and staff.

Provide development training, coaching, mentoring, and direction for development staff

Foster and model collegiality and collaboration in the Office of Development.
Miscellaneous Duties 10
Staff key committees of major donors as part of the University of California Riverside Foundation.

Represent and act on behalf of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Development in his/her absence as required

Attend university events; may/often occur evenings, weekends, off-site.

Travel as appropriate to represent the university and support fundraising efforts.

Other responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Requirements
