Position Purpose

The Multimedia Systems Technologist will work with directors, curators, and museum staff to provide computer and digital media technical support for UCR ARTSblock's daily operations and special events. Set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, events, meetings and conventions, presentations, theatrical performances and AV heavy exhibition installations. Set up and operate associated spotlights and other custom lighting systems. Manage screening room productions, operate state of the art screening room equipment, and online ticketing agent updates.

This position is also responsible for creating trailers for upcoming screenings, editing video documentation for varied uses including in-house marketing monitors, off-site monitors and website. Supervise a team of students who are responsible for operating the audio and video equipment, photographing events, documenting exhibitions, recording and editing podcasts, and performance photo and video editing.

Under general supervising of Associate Director and CHASS Chief Technology Office, this position will provide technical support to ARTSblock staff with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Mac and Windows based desktop computers, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, various video editing software, printers, projectors, and other computer related support tasks.

Accurate set up and efficient operation of advance audio, video, and lighting equipment for large and small scale events. Diagnose and resolve media system problems. Comply with all Environmental Health and Safety guidelines and Risk Management policies and procedures. Projectionist for screening room programs.

Perform minor repairs and routine cleaning of audio, video and lighting equipment and perform upgrades and maintenance. Perform inventory and forecasting of equipment needs. Notify supervisor when major equipment repairs are needed. Assist team with proper security, storage, and transportation of equipment.
Technical Support 25
Provide day-to-day assistance to ARTSblock staff in the proper and effective use of available hardware, software, and computing applications. Provide consultation and support for use of a wide and dynamic variety of hardware and software used for exhibitions. Responsible for ARTSblock's computing equipment and software inventory for all on-site and off-site computers, peripherals and software licensing, and provide needs assessment for desktop computers.

Install and set up newly purchased or moved devices including AV equipment, computers, printers, scanners and smartphones.

Compile or write technical documentation for existing programs and those under development, including operating instructions.

Maintenance of existing on-site and off-site digital signage system (KIOSK) and on-site Digital Display (Jumbo Tron) for UCR ARTSblock.

Manage technical aspects of online ticketing system.
Communications/Marketing 20
Edit video documentation for varied uses including in-house marketing, off-site kiosks, social media, and website. Supervise a team of students who are responsible for operating audio and video equipment, photographing events, documenting exhibitions, recording and editing podcasts, documentation storage and organization, and photo and video editing. Assist Executive Director with promotions, scheduling of film program and guest speakers, and creating trailers for upcoming films.

Attend planning meetings and rehearsals with Event Manager. Serves as consultant for all event A/V operations. Meet and strives to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers. Provide outstanding customer service by establishing excellent working relationships with clients.

Minimum Requirements
