Position Purpose

In consultation with the Director of Philanthropy & Young Alumni Engagement, the Program Manager, Student Relations & Career Services, manages the strategic development, implementation and execution of student programs designed to increase student awareness and appreciation of maintaining a lifelong engagement with the university. Identify, conceptualize, plan and implement new programs that strengthen student-alumni relationships and help to build a culture of philanthropy. Manage, develop and grow the Alumni Career Network. Incumbent also will participate in other UCRAA programming as assigned.

Student Alumni Association (SAA)
Advise and work closely with the SAA leadership to identify, plan and implement programming that will assist in promoting the UCRAA to current students and promote student-alumni interaction as determined by the association.

Coordinate logistics, marketing and budget with SAA members for all sponsored events. Present student event and marketing plans for staff consultation and review. This may include site selection, menu selection, entertainment, audio visual, parking reservations, directional signs, printing needs (i.e. nametags, place cards, etc.) and recognition gifts.

Assist in the creation of timelines, provide key information and encourage student volunteers to adhere to deadlines. Work with students to follow budget and process all internal/external billing for student sponsored events.
Work with key student volunteers in response to requests for guidance, assistance and information as needed.

Work with key campus partners to strengthen existing programming and increase campus relations.

Manage all post-event needs such as coding, guest lists, event summaries and evaluations.

Maintain Excel, Word and Access documents to track event participants, establish mailing lists for confirmation letters and guest lists for event purposes.

Oversee material preparation for student program meetings and assist with student membership drives.

Identify, recruit, interview, and select the SAA executive board and assistant programming board. Recruit SAA volunteers for UCRAA and campus events.

In partnership with the marketing staff, evaluate the relative success of various channels and adjust message placement to maximize publicity return. Manage electronic communications including broadcast emails, SAA website, blog, and social network presence.

Work with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's Affiliated Student Advancement Programs to enhance student programs and benchmark existing programs. Attend and present workshops at both the national and district conferences.

Make recommendations about programmatic adjustments based on event results and industry trends.

Seek funding for SAA programs through fundraising efforts and sponsorships.

Provide direction and collaborate on related student, parent and alumni programming.

Serve on various campus committees as a representative of the UCRAA and as the SAA advisor.

Provide advice and counsel to the UCR Alumni Association Board of Directors, committees and staff on student relations issues.

UCR Grad Fair
In coordination with the director of membership & marketing, develop, plan, and promote the annual UCR Grad Fair for graduating students. Supervise SAA participation and train volunteers in UCRAA membership sales. Work with colleges and departments to promote event.
Career Services 35
Develop, implement and manage a robust alumni career services program including, but not limited to: developing and overseeing the Alumni Career Network; recruiting experts for online career resources (including webinars and Alumni Association blog); maintaining and contributing to social media employment resources; seeking out relationships with key employers and maintaining job postings; establishing and maintaining alumni industry-based directory and networking groups; identify alumni speakers/panelists for SAA career conferences as well as alumni for the SAA mentorship program. Successful incumbent will interface and work closely with the UCR Career Center and with campus departments responsible for internship placements and other career related opportunities.
Communications and Miscellaneous 15
Assist in the development and implementation of programs designed to engage alumni and students. Provide programmatic support for engagement events such as Homecoming and reunions, alumni clubs and chapters, regional alumni events, Grad Fair, and Dance Marathon. Maintain notable alumni list. Identify alumni for recognition programs and for features in various alumni media. Write and coordinate alumni updates and articles for the UCR Magazine. Staff the UCRAA External Relations committee. Assist in the development of new initiatives and other programs as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two year's job experience in career services, and/or alumni/student relations field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
