Position Purpose

The out-of-state graphic/new media designer must be able to successfully communicate, create, design, manage, and deliver print and electronic marketing concepts and messages that compel a non California student audience to action. Working with Student Affairs Communications writers, graphic, web, and visual designers, Student Affairs Technology department, Undergraduate Admissions, Strategic Communications, faculty, and other stakeholders, the graphic/new media designer will use electronic messaging tools, html email, LED, web, mobile, video and print marketing to introduce out-of-state students to UC Riverside and compel them to apply to the institution.

Extensive and expert knowledge of graphic and web applications and interaction development tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Acrobat, Flash, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.)

Ability to create websites, landing pages, HTML emails, to support international recruitment and retention print and media campaigns and initiatives.

Knowledge of and ability to design for print, email, web, and mobile devices and be able to work with the inherent unique design limitations of all.

Ability to deconstruct and/or re-purpose code, scripts and CSS.

Design custom Flash, rich media, HTML emails from scratch that are inline with divisional and university brand guidelines and goals.

Intermediate Flash skills combined with the ability to create animated or static media assets.

Ability to convert video formats and optimize video assets for use in custom video players, websites, or within a Flash authoring environment.

Manage website updates, including design, content, and graphic enhancements.

Design, coordinate, and produce a wide range of international recruitment and retention marketing and messaging materials including, but not limited to, brochures, posters, postcards, t-shirts, direct mailers, information kits, counselor packets, emails, web designs, SmartPhones, iPads and the latest and greatest new media devices.

Interface with multiple clients to interpret and visually represent complex marketing and campaign concepts for a international markets, using print and electronic design to support international recruitment and retention initiatives.

Expertly design, produce, and output digital files for print, email, web, SmartPhones, iPads, or other electronic mediums, making sure files are correct the first time and meet the vendor's specifications.

Demonstrated ability to analyze the marketing message to be conveyed and create appropriate concepts to compliment and reinforce the message.

Strong command of visual design process required for print, including expert knowledge of typography and color theory. Ability to provide comps and deliver product/campaign/design from concept to final production.

Adhere to University and department brand identity requirements.
