Position Purpose

Under the general direction of the Director of Development, Athletics, and in coordination with the Assistant Vice Chancellor, Central Development, this position is responsible for planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program. This will result in the generation of private support including foundation and individual giving for the University with a focus on Intercollegiate Athletics. The Associate Director of Development is responsible for development initiatives aimed at growing a pipeline of leadership annual giving prospects, major gift fundraising and supporting the overall development efforts of the University and the UC Riverside Athletics Association.

Identification, Cultivation, Solicitation and Stewardship of Donors for Development - Athletics 100
o Work strategically with the Director of Development, Athletics to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a caseload of prospects/donors for gifts to meet established fundraising goals and objectives.

o Develop detailed gift opportunities tailored to the interests of potential donors.

o Oversee the Athletics Association Business Partnership Program by identifying and soliciting partners. Work with athletics marketing and the Athletics Business Office on the tracking of trade and fulfillment of benefits.

o Work with centralized annual giving staff and the department development team to plan, monitor and evaluate an annual giving program to support the department.

o Assist with recruitment and training of volunteers for Athletics Association Board of Directors service.

o Serve as the Athletics Development liaison with the department for sports specific fundraising activities.

o Serve as the Athletics Development liaison with the Athletics ticket office for donor season ticket renewal and future priority seating implementation.

o Maintain donor data with the highest regard for confidentiality and detail using Raisers's Edge software.

o Produce/support the following communication tools: Web site, ad-hoc acknowledgment letters and appeal materials, and social networking.

o Devise and oversee the implementation of personalized methods for recognizing and maintaining contact with current/past donors to ensure donor retention.

o Encourage the active participation of donors and volunteers to ensure their awareness of current needs and objectives of the department.

o Support the planning and development of special events for the UC Riverside Athletics and the Athletics Development Office with an emphasis on sophisticated events to cultivate and steward potential and existing major donors.

o Assist with university-wide event planning and implementation.

o Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Demonstrated fundraising experience beyond the junior level. Ability to manage strategies for cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors.

Advanced writing skills to independently write concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical or narrative reports, correspondence, or proposals.
