Position Purpose

Under the general direction of the UCR Foundation Senior Accountant, the incumbent assists with the accounting function of the UC Riverside Foundation. The incumbent provides analytical and business operations support to the Finance and Administration unit of the University Advancement division.

UC Riverside Foundation Financial/Accounting Operations 85
Responsible for the day-to-day processing and maintenance of the UC Riverside Foundation's automated accounting system which includes:
-Process and maintain the current restricted, unrestricted and trust funds. This includes: establish and maintain Foundation funds in the Foundation financial system, Constituent Management system and Foundation fund mapping system; review and post cash receipt batches in the Foundation financial system; prepare security gifts valuations and allocations of net sales proceeds; creation/coordination of financial spreadsheets and calculations necessary to ensure accurate recording and booking of individual gift fund balances, ordinary income earnings, expenditures, pledges receivable, and trust fund investment activity; prepare, process and post general journal entries.
-Monthly analysis and maintenance of the campus gift fee assessment program. This includes ensuring the integrity of the process for collection of all gift fees due to the Chancellor's discretionary resources per campus policy and coordination of the transfer of gift fees from the Foundation to the UC Regents.
-Monthly reconciliation of cash receipts processed in the Foundation financial system and Constituent Management system.
-Reconciliation & management of the UCRF bank accounts.
-Preparation of financial activity reports to campus and other external users.
-Monthly analysis of Foundation fund balances.
-Timely and accurate transfer of Foundation assets to Regent accounts.
-Provide information and advice regarding gift and trust funds activity to campus units/constituents.
-Assist with issues relating to Foundation real estate holdings and payment of property taxes.
-Maintain in good order the Foundation's fund accounting software used to record and report Foundation financial information.
-Maintain in good order the financial records of the Foundation.
Coordination and Support 15
-Assist in various liaison functions with internal and external auditors, UC Chief Investment Officer's Office, UC Corporate Accounting, UCR Accounting Office, fund managers, and the Foundation's trust administrator regarding gift and trust fund accounting.
-Work closely with the Executive Director of UA Finance and Administration and the Senior Accountant to coordinate the fiscal closing activities of the Foundation including preparation of the Foundation's annual financial statements, audit schedules for external auditors, and coordination of on-site external audit process.
-Identify opportunities for efficiency gains relative to the UCRF accounting and reporting processes.
-Perform financial and statistical analysis on a project basis. Be proactively informative and/or respond to information requests from the campus, UCR Foundation, and/or UCOP.
-Evaluate and recommend enhancements to systems environments.
-Provide assistance and analytical support when necessary to the general financial and administrative responsibilities of the unit and division.
-Complete special projects and work as assigned

Posted Minimum Requirements
-Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in related field.

-Three years demonstrated progressively responsible accounting experience including financial and statistical analysis using spreadsheet and Windows based software applications.

-Skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail.

-Demonstrated experience in researching technical issues and preparing recommendations based on the outcome of the research.

-Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for a diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with general supervision.

-Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interpret and effectively articulate complex policies and procedures, both orally and in writing.

-Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.

-Demonstrated experience as a team player in the organization.

-Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Posted Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

-Demonstrated experience in accounting for non-profit organizations and governmental units, including fund accounting and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting standards, IRS regulations related to gift transactions.

-Demonstrated experience with maintenance of automated accounting systems.

-Demonstrated experience with relational databases.

-Demonstrated experience with UCR financial systems, and UC policy and procedures.
