Position Purpose
| Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Development, Bourns College of Engineering, (BCOE) and in coordination with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, the incumbent is responsible for planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program that will result in the generation of private support including foundation and individual giving for the University with a focus on the Bourns College of Engineering. The Associate Director is responsible for development initiatives aimed at growing a pipeline of leadership annual giving prospects, major gift fundraising and supporting the overall development efforts of the University. This is a two-year, renewable contract position which includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. |

| Work strategically with the Senior Director of Development and Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects/donors for gifts to meet established fundraising goals and objectives. Develop detailed gift opportunities tailored to the interests of potential donors. Work with centralized annual giving staff and the College development team to plan, monitor and evaluate an annual giving program to support the College. Coordinate and manage the College stewardship plan including mailings, campus events, regional events, and donor visits. Maintain donor data with the highest regard for confidentiality and detail using Raiser's Edge software. Devise and oversee the implementation of personalized methods for recognizing and maintaining ongoing contact with current/past donors to ensure donor retention. Encourage the active participation of donors and volunteers to ensure their awareness of current needs and objectives of the University. Assist with university-wide event planning and implementation. Attend University events and appropriate programs. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. |

| -Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience in a related field. -Demonstrated fundraising experience beyond the junior level. Ability to manage strategies for cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact, diplomacy and collegiality in a team environment. Advanced writing skills to independently write concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical or narrative reports, correspondence, or proposals. -Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction, and setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. -Skill in evaluating and analyzing data and information to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, and formulating logical and objective conclusions or recommendations. -Proven success in goal achievement and following through on tasks.
