Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, incumbent performs cleaning and general maintenance duties for the Palm Desert Center. Duties include both internal and exterior cleaning maintenance. In additional to daily operational cleaning duties, incumbent will assist with special event and classroom set-up and break down. Limited appointment with possibility of continued part-time to cover absences and assist when needed for projects, weekday evening and weekend events, and peak work times. Training will be included with hours to be discussed upon hire. Work hours will vary. Employee will be notified of schedule in advance. |

Prepare classrooms and meeting spaces daily by moving and arranging desks, chairs, benches, tables, and other types of furniture. Assist daily in the set-up and dismantling of special equipment at functions. |

GENERAL CLEANING | 25 |
Perform cleaning, housekeeping, and general maintenance duties. Empty and clean wastebaskets and other receptacles. Dust, clean, wax and polish furniture, woodwork, light fixtures, and other designated items. Wash doors, mirrors, showcases, inner windows, and ground level outside windows. Vacuum draperies, upholstered furniture, and other designated materials. Assist with general cleaning prior to, during, and following special events, meetings, and functions. |

RESTROOM CLEANING | 20 |
Mop, clean, and disinfect restrooms. Replenish restroom supplies. Unstop minor drain stoppages. |

FLOOR CLEANING | 10 |
Sweep, mop, wax, dust, clean and polish floors, stairs, hallways, corridors, walls, moldings, outside steps, terraces, windowsills, and other designated areas. Operate vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall washing machines, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, waxers, floor scrubbing and polishing machines during stripping, waxing, buffing, and other related cleaning operations. Spot-clean carpets as needed. |

Perform specialized cleaning in audio/visual control room and mechanical areas. Report building and equipment needs. Spot-clean furniture upholstery as needed. |

Knowledge of cleaning machines and tools, including their uses, basic repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of safety related to custodial work, including knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, and disposal methods. Ability to operate and maneuver cleaning equipment and machinery. |
