Position Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the UCR Brain Game Center that broadly works to develop software in the area of Cognition. Specifically, we focus on creating "brain training" software with the goal of improving cognition. The incumbent will coordinate and contribute to research projects in the lab-testing and recruiting subjects using a variety of methods.

Essential Functions

- Ordering supplies and equipment
- Helping labs maintain an atmosphere that is comfortable for subjects
- Recruiting experimental participants and maintaining a database of experimental participants
- Organizing and maintaining a schedule of experimental participants
Managing laboratory staff 30
- Teach incoming students and staff any of the aforementioned techniques or use of the aforementioned equipment
- Organizing work schedules for students and laboratory staff
Assisting with laboratory research, which can include 20
- Collecting data from behavioral experiments run in the laboratory and off site facilities
- Creating movies, graphical, and sound stimuli using Adobe Premier, Photoshop, and other similar computer programs
- Coding and analysis of data using iExplorer, Matlab, SPSS or Excel from the above research paradigms

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirement Display Ranking

- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and three (3) years of laboratory experience or two (2) years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and two (2) years of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

- Excellent skills working with subjects in a research setting

- Demonstrated ability to manage students and research assistants in a laboratory setting

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
  5
- Proficiency in conducting statistical analyses with SPSS, R, or another statistical package

- Bachelors degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, or a related field

- Advanced computer skills such as programming experience in R, MATLAB and/or Python

- Ability to occasionally work on an evening or weekend to assist in the recruitment of experimental participants and gathering experimental data
