Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to help the UCR Perception, Action, and Development Lab (PADLAB) take part in the NIH-funded PLAY project. The PLAY project involves collecting data from families with young infants in the Riverside County area through surveys and home visits. The ideal candidate would be someone with a strong research background who has experience recruiting, scheduling, and collecting data from human subjects (in particular children), who has excellent communication skills, and can manage and organize data and other files relating to a scientific research project. |

Assist with Laboratory Research | 50 |
The laboratory assistant will be responsible for recruiting and scheduling participants for the PLAY project. Furthermore, the laboratory assistant will make visits to participants' homes to collect the data, which consists of explaining the study procedures to the participant's caregiver, operating a video camera to record the infant and caregiver playing, and administering surveys on a laptop computer. These responsibilities will be under the close supervision of the faculty lead (Dr. John Franchak) and will be done with support from PADLAB graduate students. | |

The laboratory assistant will be responsible for maintaining physical and digital records relating to the project under the supervision of the faculty lead. This will involve transferring files to the central PLAY project servers and may involve upkeep of paperwork relating to other UCR entities, such as the IRB. | |

The team working on the PLAY project will include the faculty lead, PADLAB graduate students, undergraduate research assistants, and the laboratory assistant. The laboratory assistant will be responsible for maintaining the schedules of team members to plan meetings and schedule project-related tasks. |
