Position Purpose

The Cognitive Neuroscience of Perception, Attention, and Memory (CONPAM) Lab at the University of California Riverside is seeking a full-time lab assistant take part in a NIH-funded research project from Fall 2019 to Summer 2020. The ideal candidate would be someone with a strong research background who has experience recruiting, scheduling, and collecting data from human subjects, who has excellent communication skills, and can manage and organize data and other files relating to a scientific research project.

The research program in CONPAM lab integrates behavioral, computational, cognitive neuroscience, and translational approaches to address fundamental questions of theoretical importance about perception, attention, and memory in healthy subjects and in various clinical populations. For instance, some basic science experiments in the lab focus on the nature of visual memory representations and encoding and forgetting processes involved in working memory and long-term memory using functional brain imaging methods. Coordinate Research Projects 50
The laboratory assistant will be primarily responsible for coordinating multiple aspects of the research projects including participant recruitment and scheduling, data collection, and maintenance of behavioral and neuroimaging data under direct supervision of the faculty lead (Dr. Weiwei Zhang).
Administrative duties 30
The laboratory assistant will be responsible for maintaining physical and digital records relating to the project under the supervision of the faculty lead. This will involve transferring files to the lab server and may involve filing of paperwork relating to other UCR entities, such as the IRB.
Organization 20
The team working in CONPAM Lab will include the faculty lead, graduate students, undergraduate research assistants, visiting students and scholars, and the laboratory assistant. The laboratory assistant will be responsible for explaining lab matters such as the use of consent forms, debriefing of human subjects, etc to new undergraduate research assistants . They will also be in charge of maintaining the schedules of team members to plan meetings and schedule project-related tasks.

Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and one year of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
