Position Purpose
| Provide laboratory assistance in molecular physiology and toxicology in the PIs laboratories. In particular, maintain fruit fly lines and mosquito colonies in the lab. Perform basic molecular biology experiments such as genomic PCR and cDNA cloning. Grow bacterial culture to produce toxin inclusions, and use ultracentrifugation to purify inclusions. Express and purify proteins of interest. Assist lab members perform DNA/protein microinjection into mosquito embryos, isolate transformed mosquitoes, and maintain transgenic lines. Perform statistical data analysis, explicitly present results to the Principal Investigators as well as to the other lab members and get involved in scientific discussions. Assist in the maintenance of functioning science research labs. |
