Position Information

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment and Evaluation, the Articulation Officer is responsible for the management of the campus-wide articulation system, the planning, implementation and expansion of articulation agreements statewide and transfer initiatives relating to articulation. The position requires extensive knowledge of UC Riverside Undergraduate Admissions policies and curriculum with special emphasis on polices relating to community college course curriculum articulation in addition to all areas of evaluation for freshman and transfer applicants. The position serves as chief liaison with the California Community College Articulation Officers, faculty, counselors, senior administrators, UC Riverside faculty, College Academic Advising and academic department staff regarding policies and general regulations concerning complicated issues and problems related to course articulation. In coordination with the Director and Assistant Director of Transfer Recruitment and Evaluation, recommends policy changes as it relates to community college transfer articulation agreements. Continually reviews and assesses the effectiveness of these articulation agreements. This position is responsible for evaluation of transfer applicants; counseling and advising of the general public including, but not limited to, prospective applicants, parents, faculty, and administration on admission-related issues; and participates in various recruitment and yield activities. The position interprets the complex requirements for admission and makes independent decisions regarding the acceptance of transfer coursework from domestic and international institutions to the University.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in a related field and significant experience as a professional or advanced professional-level student affairs officer or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of college education and experience.
2. Demonstrated experience with ASSIST, course articulation, undergraduate admission policy, and campus selection criteria
3. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with the wide range of audiences served by Undergraduate Admissions, to include students, faculty, administrators and the general public using various media formats.
4. Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to identify relevant concerns, identify patterns or tendencies, formulate logical and objective conclusions
5. Demonstrated undergraduate experience in: a) recruitment of prospective students; b) evaluating applications, transcripts, and supplemental documentation; and c) making admissions decisions on prospective applicants, to include full consideration of academic records and subjective criteria.
6. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment that is subject to constantly changing priorities. Skill in organizing and setting priorities that accurately reflect the importance of the job responsibilities
7. Ability to work effectively as an individual, a team member, and with diverse groups.
8. Demonstrated leadership skills to organize and direct technical support services within a higher-education environment.
9. Excellent skills in operating a computer to retrieve and enter data in a student information system or large data base. Must have experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, power point) and other business software.
10. Operating knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing undergraduate admissions and other areas related to the responsibilities of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Master's degree in a related field and/or prior experience as a professional level student affairs officer or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of college education and 3-5 years of experience.
2. Past/current member of the California Inter-Segmental Articulation Council
3. Knowledge of college curriculum development, the university transfer process from community colleges, and regulations, policies, and programs related to the role and responsibilities of an articulation officer.
4. Demonstrated skill in research, data analysis, and interpretation of complex, multi-layered data to draw conclusions.
5. Demonstrated skill in communicating respectfully and sensitively with people at various levels within organizations who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities.
6. Demonstrated experience working with a Student Information system.
7. Demonstrated experience working with an on-line application evaluation tool.
