Principal Labor Relations Analyst

UCR is seeking an experienced labor relations analyst to provide high level professional support to the campus in the areas of labor relations and contract administration . Primary responsibilities include advising supervisors regarding employee discipline and dismissal actions, conduct of investigations, participating in collective bargaining, interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and University policies, management of grievances, and arbitration.

Minimum Requirements

Education and/or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a related field and demonstrated progressively responsible experience in the field of labor relations in the capacity of a senior-level analyst/specialist or higher.

Demonstrated leadership skills in leading projects, processes, or functions of significance involving collective bargaining, contract interpretation and administration, and grievance handling.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively convey provisions of applicable personnel policies and bargaining agreements.

Demonstrated skill and experience with representing management at formal arbitration hearings and proceedings.

Strong mediation and conflict resolution/problem solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to consult and work effectively with all levels in the organization and develop informal cooperative relationships, to deliver high quality professional responsive consulting services.
Must have excellent organizational and time management skills to set and meet aggressive commitments to achieve objectives; manage multiple, diverse assignments/projects under time and workload pressures.

Extensive and advanced technical skills to prepare complex analytical studies and narrative reports using technically advanced features of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and manage complex situations involving conflict.

Willingness to travel and work beyond normal hours as necessary.

Ability to model and promote the University's principles of community and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in related field.

Experience in higher education and/or public sector labor relations.

Experience as chief spokesperson in contract negotiations.
