Position Information

The UC Riverside Student Life Office is seeking a Coordinator of Orientation and First Year Programs to join a team of professionals that oversee numerous programs and services to assist the transition and retention of new students. Student Life Office is committed to providing an inclusive environment that attracts a workforce which mirrors the diversity of the campus and surrounding community. Within this exciting environment, rich with growth opportunities, you will have opportunities to develop student leader recruitment and training models for multiple programs, coordinate multiple services that support the diverse population of new students, and provide support to the student centered initiatives in Student Life. Minimum Requirements

1) Bachelor's degree in a related field and significant experience as a professional or advanced professional-level student affairs officer or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of college education and experience.
2) Experience in program and event management.
3) Skill in observing and evaluating the outcomes of a problem to identify the key issues or redirect efforts.
4) Demonstrated skill in expressing ideas clearly and convincingly. Conflict resolution and mediation.
5) Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
6) Skill in generating a number of different approaches to problems.
7) Ability to work energetically and well with college students.

Preferred Qualifications

1) Masters degree in a related field.
2) Experience working with Orientation and First Year Programs preferred.
3) Student Development - Working knowledge of student development theory and commitment to its implementation.
4) Knowledge of UC Policies and Procedures - Knowledge of the applicable UC policies and procedures governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job
5) Self-Management Skills - Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction.
6) Advanced Writing Skills - Skill to independently compose letters, memos, reports, and other written communication materials, for a variety of audiences, using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, composition, text editing, and proofreading skills.
