About this position: Associate Director of Development Position, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS), University of California Riverside. This integral position is responsible for planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program that will result in the generation of private support including foundation and individual giving for the University with a focus on the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. The Associate Director is responsible for development initiatives aimed at growing a pipeline of leadership annual giving prospects, major gift fundraising and supporting the overall development efforts of the University. Minimum Requirements

o Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field.
o Demonstrated fundraising experience beyond the junior level. Ability to manage strategies for cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact, diplomacy and collegiality in a team environment. Ability to work effectively with supervisor, deans and directors, academic and University leaders and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.
o Advanced writing skills to independently write concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical or narrative reports, correspondence, or proposals.
o Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction, and setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities.
o Skill in evaluating and analyzing data and information to identify patterns, trends, and relationships, and formulating logical and objective conclusions or recommendations.
o Proven success in goal achievement and following through on tasks. Excellent problem-solving skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet departmental goals/deadlines.
o Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and donor prospects, while maintaining confidentiality in all matters as they relate to sensitive donor relations issues.
o Proven computer skills to create documents, spreadsheets, and reports using Word, Access, Excel, or other software applications.
o Ability to work effectively with other advancement staff in devising, analyzing, modifying, implementing, and evaluating development programs. Ability to work effectively within a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications

o Bachelor's degree in a related field.
o Experience with and knowledge of the principles and practices of fund raising, preferably within a major research university environment.
o Experience in coordinating and integrating fundraising efforts with alumni, media relations and marketing professionals within advancement.
o Experience in development and/or alumni affairs and/or annual giving.
o Experience with Raiser's Edge fundraising database.
o Experience with exporting/importing data from or to different software applications; and operating knowledge of Internet for data gathering purposes.
