Outreach Coordinator

Position Information

Under the general supervision of the Medical Scholars Program Director, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for performing advanced professional assignments in developing, implementing, and organizing activities for the Medical Scholars Program (MSP), Future Physicians Leaders (FPL), and Medical Leaders of Tomorrow (MLT) pipeline programs at the UCR School of Medicine. These pipeline programs provide educational opportunities to students who are first generation to college and/or socio-economically disadvantaged. The Outreach Coordinator assists with increasing the participation of local high school students for the MLT and FPL programs, and community college and other non-UCR college students for the FPL program. The Outreach Coordinator also works closely with local community college students to help them matriculate to UC Riverside and into the MSP program.

Minimum Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in a related field and prior experience as a professional level student affairs officer or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of college education and experience.
2. Three years of related experience in college-level student support services.
3. Strong planning and organizational skills.
4. Experience advising community college transfer students.
5. Experience working with students from socio-economically and/or educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
6. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of students, parents, staff, faculty, administrators, and community constituents.
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community.
8. Demonstrated public speaking ability and ability to make presentations before small and large groups.
9. Demonstrated proficiency using software applications, such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
10. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
11. Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations related to the responsibilities of the position including Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
12. Hired candidate must successfully complete a background check through the Department of Justice.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience advising students for health professions.
2. Knowledge of UC policies and procedures governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job.
