Multimedia Technology Analyst

Position Information

Under general supervision of the department Manager and Multimedia Systems Engineer, incumbent will support network based multimedia equipment in support of instruction, special events, and academic related projects. This support includes performing operational-level programming and systems analysis. Will assist in planning computing requirements and other technical resources to achieve department and university mission. Supports integration of computing systems with existing multimedia systems in general assignment classrooms to include software, hardware, and network connectivity. Incumbent will assist in the design, creation and installation of advance multimedia presentation and control systems. The position is responsible for maintenance of all existing multimedia systems in general assignment classrooms and selected departmental spaces, including regular maintenance, upgrades, and emergency repairs.

This position will have a nontraditional work schedule. It will vary several times per academic year depending on the academic quarter and departmental activities. The position could change shifts on a quarterly basis and on a 'as needed basis'. It will start out as a swing-shift (late afternoon to evening shift). Prior notice will be provided for each shift change when needed.

Minimum Requirements

Information Technology: Demonstrated knowledge of multimedia technology systems internals, OS & interrelationships, operating, installing & maintaining PC software, hardware.
Multimedia & Control Systems Experience: installing multimedia systems to industry application standards. advance level programming & configuration skills w/standard control system protocols & languages.
Use of Analytical Thinking: in evaluating & analyzing complex concepts of past trends, & relationships, then applying the concepts. Exp. in observing & evaluating the outcomes of a problem to identify the issues.
Communication Skills - Advanced: Superior communication skills with internal & external campus community & international visitors.
Interpersonal Skills: working as part of a team & collaboration.
Problem Solving: Independently research issues for problem solving.
Reading Comprehension & Writing Skills - Advanced: Understanding scientific & technical documents & complex instructional procedures.
Self-Management Skills: working independently & following through on assignments with minimal direction. Education &/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in working in a higher-education environment. Skill in generating a number of different approaches to problems. Thorough knowledge of subject matter to act as a resource for the exploration of new ideas. Skill in developing a vision or image of how a system/process should operate under ideal circumstances. Skill in combining divergent and& normally unassociated ideas to creatively approach problems. Skill in creating a supportive work environment where new ideas are solicited, evaluated, and& implemented.

Knowledge of UC Policies and& Procedures: Knowledge of the applicable UC policies and& procedures governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job.

Supervisory Experience: Experience with training, supervising, and& evaluating the performance of assigned personnel. Experience in directing, organizing, and& prioritizing workload to meet required deadlines and& department objectives. Experience in a supervisory role responsible for hiring, evaluating, directing, disciplining, and& complaint resolution. Skill in using professional judgment in addressing issues.
