Senior Director of Regional Development - Under general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, the Senior Director of Regional Development will play an important role in growing the overall donor base and building long-term strategic and resource capacity for the University's general fundraising efforts in New York, Boston, and Washington DC. The Senior Director of Regional Development will be responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift donors and prospects ($25,000 and above). The incumbent is responsible for building a pipeline of major gift activity, connecting alumni, donors, friends, volunteers and other constituents to the efforts of the campus and, ultimately, for increasing individual gifts to colleges, schools, departments, and programs. This is a two-year, renewable contract position which includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Minimum Requirements

-Willingness to travel to regional locations on an ongoing basis.

-Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Five years fundraising experience, preferably in higher education environment.

-Demonstrated broad knowledge of the principles and practices of major gift fundraising, working within a major research university environment. Knowledge of University Advancement functions and ability to coordinate and integrate fundraising efforts with alumni, media relations and marketing professionals within advancement.

-Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement a program of comparable size and complexity including the ability to envision, plan and articulate future directions and meet the needs of multiple entities.

-Proven experience in the full spectrum of development including cultivation, stewardship and donor recognition.

-Experience with major gift fundraising from foundations, individuals, corporations, and comprehensive campaigns.

-Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, the importance of philanthropy, private gift fundraising, and UCR fundraising goals as it applies to graduate schools and research centers to individuals, groups, corporate and community leaders.

-Ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and University leaders and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.

-Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and donor prospects, while maintaining confidentiality in all matters as they relate to sensitive donor relations issues.

-Ability to travel outside of business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

-Advanced Degree.

-Knowledge of a broad range of academic and institutional issues related to a major research university environment.

-Successful experience with comprehensive campaigns.
