Assistant Vice Chancellor, Development (2 Positions)

Position Information

University Advancement is in search of two Assistant Vice Chancellors (AVCs) to report directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Development, and serve on the senior Development leadership team. The incumbents will oversee development officers in capacities throughout the central development office and campus, forming a hybrid centralized/decentralized Development team that works closely with the Deans and faculty to identify opportunities for private supports. In conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the AVCs will help to create a holistic, strategic and thoughtful approach to the development operation. As leaders on the development team, the AVCs will play an important role in helping UCR launch a transformative and comprehensive fundraising campaign.

Minimum Requirements

-Minimum of five years of demonstrated fundraising or similar leadership experience, preferably in a higher education institution.
-Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets, built on an institution's strategic mission, as well as programmatic planning.
-Demonstrated experience in managing development services staff.
-Demonstrated experience in developing annual and long-term work plans, and managing and evaluating employee performance.
-Demonstrated experience in developing and/or advising fundraising strategy, working with an institution's advancement leadership.
-Demonstrated leadership in working with key volunteer organizations, including advisory board members and/or major donors to the schools/colleges.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience in developing gift agreements and other related documents.
-The ability to inspire confidence as well as to motivate others, and the ability to excel in the framework of a highly complex research institution with significant aspirations.
-Must be able to demonstrate independent decision-making ability and sound judgment in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
-Possess an intuitive sense of the large enterprise combined with a practical, project orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

-Advanced degree.
-Minimum of five years demonstrated fundraising or similar leadership experience in a higher education institution.
-Knowledge of a broad range of academic and institutional issues related to a major research university environment.
-Experience with fundraising in capital and comprehensive campaigns.
