Position Information

UC Riverside's ARTSblock is composed of the California Museum of Photography, the Sweeney Art Gallery, and the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts. Located on a single block in adjacent historical buildings in downtown Riverside, easily accessible to the public as well as the campus, ARTSblock's mission is to provide a cultural presence, educational resource, community center and intellectual meeting ground for the university and the community.

The Multimedia Systems Technologist will work with directors, curators, and museum staff to provide computer and digital media technical support for UCR ARTSblock's daily operations and special events. Set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, events, meetings and conventions, presentations, theatrical performances and AV heavy exhibition installations. Set up and operate associated spotlights and other custom lighting systems. Manage screening room productions and online ticketing agent updates.

This position is also responsible for creating trailers for upcoming screenings, editing video documentation for varied uses including in-house marketing monitors, off-site monitors and website. Supervise a team of students who are responsible for operating the audio and video equipment, photographing events, documenting exhibitions, recording and editing podcasts, and performance photo and video editing.

Under general supervising of Associate Director and CHASS Chief Technology Office, this position will provide technical support to museum staff with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Mac and Windows based desktop computers, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, various video editing software, printers, projectors, and other computer related support tasks.

Minimum Requirements

2 years of college and minimum of 2 years of field experience in specialty area.

Experience with setting up and operating audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, events, meetings and conventions, presentations, theatrical performances and AV heavy exhibition installations as well as associated spotlights and other custom lighting systems.

Demonstrated ability to operate state of the art screening room Audio/Video equipment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, iOS and Mac OS X related hardware and peripherals.

Experience providing Mac and PC desktop support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installation of hardware and software, and problem diagnosis and resolution.

Experience with handheld smartphones.

Knowledge of computer security protocols and virus protection issues.

Knowledge and experiences in basic website maintenance technology.

Ability to learn new technology and maintain technical skills.

Proficient in professional digital image design, processing, editing, and storage using photo and video editing tools, including but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Aperture, Adobe Premier, and Final Cut Pro.

Demonstrate ability to analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems before and during events using excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to lift and move computer equipment including desktop systems and peripherals, typically weighing 40 pounds or less.

Must be able to accommodate a rotating work schedule to include nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Strand Lighting System

Experience with working in a University environment.
