Position Information

In consultation with the Associate Executive Director, the Director of Constituent & Scholarship Programs is responsible for developing and directing a comprehensive program to actively engage UCR constituencies, including: parents, staff retirees, emeriti faculty, and alumni association scholarship committees to advance University Advancement objectives in support of UCR. Identify, conceptualize, plan and implement new programs that strengthen constituent relationships and help to build a culture of philanthropy. Manage, develop and grow the Parents Association and the University of California, Riverside Alumni Association (UCRAA) sponsored scholarship programs. Incumbent also will participate in other UCRAA programming as assigned. Major duties include organization of programs, meetings and events. Oversee logistics in preparation for events, programs, and scholarship programs. Send appropriate invitations and confirmations. Prepare general correspondence and meeting materials. Assist with marketing and promotional strategies. Provide counsel to volunteers. Other responsibilities include participating in committees and task forces; budget and financial administration; providing advice and counsel in areas relating to UCRAA parents, emeriti and retirees and student scholars strategy.

The Office of Alumni & Constituent Relations serves to preserve and promote the relationships between UCR, its alumni, students and many external constituencies. Through its various services and programs, the office engages UCR's alumni, students and external constituencies in support of the university and its tradition of excellence. The office's general objectives are to: -Promote the interests of the University of California, Riverside and strengthen its base of support. -Encourage an ongoing commitment to UCR among its alumni, students, parents, emeriti faculty and staff retirees. -Ensure timely and effective communication between UCR and its alumni and external constituencies. -Encourage greater involvement in UCR's Alumni Association, Parents Association, Student Alumni Association, Emeriti Association and Retirees Association. -Provide services and programs to benefit alumni, students, parents and other constituencies.

Minimum Requirements

-Graduation from college and four years of public relations or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
-Demonstrated professional experience in working with volunteers.
-Strong planning, problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to use common sense approaches and make prudent and sound decisions.
-Skill and ability to creatively organize, plan, execute and evaluate special events.
-Demonstrated experience to generate innovative ideas, originate action without instruction, and establish priorities and goals in developing activities and programs.
-Ability to organize a diverse workload and prioritize projects to ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced working environment. Detail oriented, with excellent follow-through and accountability for quality work.
-Must be flexible and able to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team situation.
-Demonstrated experience using Windows software applications. Experience using advancement database systems.
-Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish professional working relationships and interact effectively with diverse groups within the University and external communities.

Preferred Qualifications

-Four years public relations experience.
-Knowledge of University/University Advancement organizational structure and policies and procedures.
-Direct experience in alumni relations or experience in an educational non-profit environment.
-Knowledge of a broad range of academic and institutional issues related to a major research university environment.
