Chief Financial and Administrative Officer

Position Information

Serves as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the Office of Undergraduate Education to include the University Honors Program, Academic Resource Center, UCDC/UCCS Program, Student Success Programs, Undergraduate Research, University Writing Program, and Summer Sessions and Special Programs.

Manages the development of annual financial plans and monitors expenditures. Coordinates the budget process to maintain sound financial conditions and compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and financial standards. Provides critical executive level support and consultation to the Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education on budgetary planning/management. Coordinates financial planning activities closely with the Office of Financial Planning and Analysis. Provides strategic planning, policy development and implementation, management of human resources, management of information systems, and space planning. Responsible for the direction and oversight of all administrative support operations for the Office of Undergraduate Education. The management functions are highly complex and diverse based on the following:

* Approx budget - $15 million from multiple funding sources

* 58 staff; 55 lecturers; 56 TA's

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree in a related area (MBA preferred) and demonstrated progressively responsible experience in financial administration in a management capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated leadership experience in strategic planning, policy development, forecasting, resource analysis, and budgeting to meet unique goals.
Demonstrated experience in quantitative analysis and fiscal projections.
Demonstrated experience in finance and accounting practices and procedures in a management capacity.
Knowledge of business and accounting operations in a large, complex, multi-faceted organization.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and the principles governing internal controls.
Experience in overseeing and implementing policies, procedures, and systems for office operations.
Demonstrated experience in human resource management, including recruitment and selection of staff, supervision, performance management, employee relations, and office reorganization.
Demonstrated skill in using software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and database applications.
Demonstrated experience with developing electronic reporting tools using databases, spreadsheets, on-line financial systems and other data storage/retrieval systems.
Demonstrated ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, financial and operational issues to diverse constituencies.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, staff, and faculty.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a management team and to identify and resolve organizational problems.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a complex organization with multiple functions and funding sources.


Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Business Administration.
Demonstrated experience with business and accounting operations in a large, complex, multi-faceted organization.
Previous experience in an academic environment, including exposure to and knowledge of issues related to higher education.
Significant knowledge of the organizational unit's objective and activities; and thorough knowledge of University administrative organization, policies, procedures and practices
