Position Information

Reporting to the Associate Dean/Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (CFAO), the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of a complex technology infrastructure including hardware, software, major systems, security and networking, development of learning technologies and applications, and management of all technology supporting the Teaching, Research, Service and Clinical mission facets of the UCR School of Medicine.
With a rapidly growing Clinical Enterprise, the School of Medicine seeks an individual with a background and experience in Clinical systems, including Telemedicine. The CTO will direct the multifaceted components of technology for UCR's Medical School to support teaching, research, multiple clinical enterprise sites, undergraduate medical education, graduate medical education (residents) and central administration. The delivery of these technologies, technical services, and support offerings will be accomplished via a variety of platforms and modalities, and a strong background provisioning and integrating cloud, vendor, and custom developed systems within distributed environment is essential.
As a community-based medical school, this position is charged with the development of robust systems to meet the operational demands of a medical school with multiple clinical practice sites spanning a 220 mile region. Strategically work with partners, affiliates and third party vendors to manage, coordinate, and secure technology across multiple platforms, technologies, and sites. The management portfolio held by this position is notably diverse, with corresponding broad organizational implications and complexity, characterized by substantial scope of responsibility. This position requires regular interface with the Senior Leadership of the SOM, officers of the UCR Campus and officers of the University of California and represents the SOM in a variety of settings. The incumbent will leverage relationships with campus technology leadership, including UCR's CIO, CTO, and CISO, as well as UC-wide partners to ensure SOM technical programs and infrastructures are provided both effectively and efficiently. This is a senior position positioned to provide leadership, vision strategy and direction for multiple technology, policy and information outreach programs relating to web software development, procurement and the management of systems needs of rapidly expanding clinical services and graduate medical education programs.
