Position Information

UCR Extension is the continuing and professional education division of the University of California, Riverside. International Education Programs (IEP) is the largest planning unit within University Extension, annually enrolling over 5,000 international students in English language, university pathway and professional certificate and postgraduate diploma programs. IEP partners with universities, governments and educational organizations around the world to create access to knowledge and resources at UCR. It cooperates with departments and faculty across campus to design and implement educational and research programs for a global audience. Operating on a self-supporting annual budget of more than $18,000,000 and employing over 40 full-time staff, 20 full-time instructors and over 50 part-time instructors, IEP contributes in a significant way to the success of UCR Extension. Reporting to the Director of International Education Programs and consistent with the mandate and goals of UCR Extension as a self-supporting department, the Associate Director of International Education Programs is part of a collaborative model for the promotion and academic and administrative leadership of IEP and its programs. With a demonstrated commitment to continuing education, academic excellence and a creative vision for entrepreneurial initiatives, the Associate Director provides exceptional leadership and knowledge in international education, curricular and instructional areas, strategic planning, program development and management, global marketing and international student recruitment. The IEP Associate Director possesses the professional and personal skills to ensure the quality and success of current and potential self-supporting programs through a demonstrated ability to lead, challenge, inspire and motivate a team of dedicated professionals who teach and support programs delivered in Riverside, California and around the world. The Associate Director shares the academic and program leadership for IEP, directly overseeing several IEP units, supervising 3 managers and 3 administrative staff, ensuring course and service delivery for a complex, multi-functional organization. The Associate Director is the executive manager for the English as a Second Language (ESL) and TESOL programs, supervises 3 academic program coordinators and 20 instructors, recommending and leading curricular and programmatic change to ensure the highest continuing level of standard for program delivery in intensive English programs, teacher training programs, custom programs, concurrent enrollment and pathway programs. The Associate Director also serves as the primary academic and institutional contact with international sponsorship or scholarship organizations, ministries of education, and ministries of higher education and is a driving force behind international marketing and student recruitment, maintaining knowledge of market demands abroad, planning and executing international marketing trips, cultivating relationships with international partners and fulfilling commitments through high-quality customer service and program delivery.
