Position Information

Under the general direction of the Chair of the Department of Dance and reporting to the Department Manager. The Production Manager (PM) will take a hands-on approach to managing technical, design, and logistical elements of department productions, events, and day-to-day activities in Department of Dance spaces, in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students. The Production Manager will take a leadership role realizing a vision for all production elements of UCR Dance productions and studio spaces, in consideration of the instructional needs of the department, and in collaboration with faculty and staff. This will include guiding the department in developing a culture of effective collaboration between choreographers, dancers, designers, technicians and managers in production processes. It will also include coordinating resources available to the Department of Dance, including the Theatre Facilities Unit, Facilities Management, Performing Arts, the Culver Center for the Arts, College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and other potential partners such as the Gluck Fellows Program of the Arts, The Center for Ideas and Society, the School of Medicine and in some instances off-campus entities such as the Fox Box Theater in downtown Riverside. The Production Manager will guide the department in the development of effective practices for planning and executing productions and department events, including production meetings, conferences and collegium, technical rehearsals, and show runs. The PM may potentially have a role in training/instruction of students in production technology and management.
