Position Information

Reporting to the Chancellor, the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) provides leadership to the campus compliance office, including policy, planning, and promoting a culture of compliance. Advises the Chancellor on the development of an appropriate compliance infrastructure and is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and coordination of campus compliance assurance functions, fact-finding, internal audit, and the Title IX office. Acts as the campus' Locally Designated Official (LDO) for the University of California Policy on Reporting and Investigating Allegations of Suspected Improper Governmental Activities and the Policy for Protection of Whistleblowers from Retaliation.Recommends changes in campus policies and procedures to meet local, state, and federal compliance obligations. The AVC/CCO, in collaboration and cooperation with campus academic and administrative officers and managers, is expected to vigorously and conscientiously pursue a community environment that holds itself accountable to the intent and the spirit of legal and policy authorities. This position is a confidential management position that acts with broad authority and delegation from the Chancellor with respect to the above responsibilities. This position also holds a dotted reporting line to the University of California System-wide's Senior Vice President and Chief Compliance and Audit Officer. As mentioned, the AVC CCO is responsible for the Title IX Office. The Title IX Coordinators / Officers at UC and at most universities across the country are receiving a higher level of visibility and importance at the university with the Dept. of Education's, Office of Civil Rights interest in this position and their critical role in enforcing the law and its various components including sexual violence and sexual harassment issues.
