Position Information
UC Riversides Housing, Dining, and Hospitality Services is recruiting for a Senior Manager to plan, organize, manage, and direct the total day-to-day activities of the front of house operations for The Barn (opening late 2019/early 2020). The Senior Manager will model excellent leadership skills and create a welcoming environment for staff, students, and all guests. The Senior Manager will be directly responsible for managing staff, work schedules, customer service, food presentation, dining rooms, special events, entertainment events, green rooms, and maintenance functions for The Barn complex. This position will also participate in the planning, development, preparation, and management of unit budgets to ensure fiscal controls. The Senior Manager will work in collaboration with the Culinary Manager to ensure food quality, will assist in the development of innovative menus and menu items, and oversee proper ordering, receiving, and storage of all goods. The Senior Manager will provide operational oversight, guidance, training, and support to the management team and supervisors within the Barn.
The Barn complex is the first of its kind at UCR and will serve as a destination for students, staff, and faculty alike while providing a sense of purpose, place, and community for campus constituents to come together for food, drinks, and entertainment. The Barn includes a robust entertainment and event schedule to meet fiscal goals which will be coordinated between the venue leadership team and a Talent Buyer contractor. The Barns $20 million renovation began in June 2018 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2019, with a grand opening of the new complex set for early 2020. The new Barns capacity will be tripled and include its revamped signature restaurant with new faculty-staff lounge, a showcase music venue, and a theater.
