Position Information
Under the supervision of the Associate University Librarian for the Digital Library, the Digital Initiatives Specialist will work collaboratively with staff and departments across the library on a variety of projects related to digital scholarship technologies, digital cultural heritage access, interpretation and digital preservation. The position will provide consulting services, manage individual digital projects, and also work collaboratively on team-based digital initiatives. The Digital Initiatives Specialist will work in all phases of development on digital library initiatives, including initial research and requirements gathering, prototyping, project and website design, web page and digital content development, digitization, digital preservation, and contributing to project communication and distribution plans. In this capacity, this position will work closely with the library cyberinfrastructure team on technology solutions. Within the Digital Library Division, the Digital Initiatives Specialist provides support to the Digitization Services unit, assisting with scanning and ingest processing on digital collections projects. This position will also work in partnership with key staff in the Research and Instructional Services Division, such as the Digital Scholarship Librarian and Innovative Media Librarian, and will contribute to the development, staffing and management of the forthcoming digital/scholarly laboratory space within the university libraries. Please note: The budgeted hiring range is up to $76,500.
