Position Information

Under the general direction of the Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO)/Laboratory Safety Supervisor (LSS), the incumbent will support the CHO/Laboratory Safety Supervisor in maintaining and implementing the comprehensive campus laboratory safety program related to general lab safety, chemical hygiene/safety, process safety, safety engineering, chemical engineering, physical hazards, etc. Conducts laboratory safety evaluations, hazard assessments; identifies and and recommends corrective action; work with laboratory staff and departments in implementation of corrective actions. The incumbent will work with the CHO/LSS in developing criteria for using extremely hazardous chemicals and high-risk research equipment and research processes. The incumbent will actively investigate and promote continuous process improvement efforts at all levels of education and research safety. **The budgeted hiring range for this position is $64,400 - $85,000 annually.**

Experience

Experience Requirement
Experience and expertise in the field of Laboratory Safety, Process Safety, Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Engineering or a related field, preferably in a research environment. Preferred
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required

Minimum Requirements

Strong skill to appropriately use technology and relevant scientific equipment as required.
Thorough knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable local, state, and federal regulations and related standards and guidelines.
Strong analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints.
Thorough knowledge/understanding of specific EH&S field(s) including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge/understanding of all EH&S fields.
Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill to communicate effectively in a diverse environment.
