Lab Assistant

Position Information

Please note this position has an expected end date of June 30, 2022, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon funding.

Under supervision from the PI and lab personnel, the incumbent will assist in projects related to infection and inflammatory diseases in mouse models and human blood cells. Key duties will be: assisting with organizing and keeping mouse colonies, data collection and general lab maintenance.

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience or related science areas. Preferred
Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and 1 year of laboratory experience or 2 years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position. Required

Experience

Experience Requirement
Prior related laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture. Required
Previous experience in mouse work. Preferred
Previous experience in immune cells and human primary cells. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Skill in organization and attention to detail and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform labwork under supervision by project scientist and senior graduate students.
Ability to make solutions, trouble shoot and think through laboratory techniques with supervision.
Demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Macintosh computer platforms.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of principles of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology.

Knowledge of techniques in immunology and microscopy .
