Lead Application Developer

Position Information

There are two positions available. These positions are designated as Career Ladder recruitments, which means the hiring department can recruit and fill this role at different levels within the position classification series. Therefore, this position is currently posted as an Applications Programmer 3/ID # 24389567) and/or Applications Programmer 4/ ID # 24300460). The Lead Application Developer provides general application development recommendations and guidance to a team of development colleagues. Serves as the technical lead on a development team in support of organizational priorities. Working with the Lead Application Architect, develops specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings such a microservices and cloud; assesses the compatibility and integration of products/services in order to ensure an integrated architecture across interdependent applications and systems; and contributes to the overall development portfolio. Negotiates with stakeholders on the creation of software specifications. Reviews software application code prior to implementation to verify consistency and conformance to departmental guidelines and policies as well as industry best practices. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for approval of system and programming documentation. Ensures project reports and documentation are updated. Regularly resolves highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Both positions are classified as primarily remote with occasional visits to campus as necessary. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). The maximum annual budgeted salary for each position is $117,100.

6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Proven experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web API, CSS3, HTML 5, and JQuery. Required
Demonstrated experience developing for cloud-based platforms including Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS. Preferred
Advanced experience with modern web applications MVC frameworks (.NET, Spring Boot, Angular, Grails, etc.) Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Advanced knowledge of secure software development
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated complex problem- solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
Advanced experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms.
Advanced experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
Highly advanced skills associated with software specification, design, modification, implementation and deployment of large-scale scope.
Knowledge of relational databases, specifically ORACLE Database.
Demonstrated software repository skills.
Excellent project leadership and management skills.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Experience developing and executing complex test plans.
Ability to learn new programming platform (as needed) in a fairly short period of time.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of front end SPA frameworks (Angular, React, Vue).

Working knowledge of Grails, Spring Boot, or ASP.NET.
