Associate Registrar

Position Information

The Associate Registrar manages the day-to-day operational functions of the Registrar's Office to include coordinating staff efforts to provide centralized services essential to the entire student body, alumni, faculty, and staff across the academic community. This individual is the primary liaison for data and system management within the office and plays a key role in the ever changing needs of the academic community related to the student academic record, degree audit, academic scheduling and course approval. This position is a member of the office management team and acts on behalf of the Registrar in the absence of the Registrar. Successful candidates will be required to prepare a presentation as part of the interview process.

Minimum Requirements

Significant knowledge of Federal and California laws pertaining to the privacy rights of students and access to student information.
In-depth knowledge of Academic Senate regulations, including student registration, course enrollments, classroom use, recording of grades, awarding of degrees, and maintenance of student records.
Knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures related to budget, accounting, human resources, IT, and student services.
Ability to assess business processes, identifies operational gaps, and implements improvements Written and verbal communication skills. Active listening, persuasion, and negotiation skills. Customer service orientation. Interpersonal skills. Social perceptiveness.
Understanding of best practices in the field, and ability to recommend changes and modifications to current systems.
Demonstrated, knowledge of the application and use of integrated student record systems.
Demonstrated critical thinking, planning, problem-solving and interpretive skills to analyze situations, define problems, identify concerns, develop and propose solutions.
Utilizes excellent constituent service skills with all interactions.
Skill and experience in project management and organizational effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiar with implementation of fees and UC requirements for California residency for tuition purposes.

Knowledge of student information systems and operational computer systems designs, techniques, and applications. Demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in a service-based environment - preferably Banner, Degree Works and Series25.

Significant knowledge of academic programs, policies, processes, and operations in an Association of American Universities (AAU) public research university.

Demonstrated editorial skills and familiarity with publication planning and design.

Knowledge and practical experience in accounting, cost benefit analysis, and budgetary preparation.
