Assistant Director of the Highlander Union Building

Position Information

The Assistant Director of the Highlander Union Complex is responsible for direct oversight, vision and direction over HUB Programming and the Highlander Union Manager program, including recognition, recruitment and training. Under the general supervision of the Director, this position is also responsible for providing comprehensive support to the department in the areas of Audio/Visual management and scheduling, student employment, event approval, recognition programs and the Cultural Funds program. This position will also support general Student Life functions and events as needed.**As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of employment.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's degree. Preferred

Experience with utilizing audio/visual equipment for events, conferences and general meetings Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

Understanding of Student Union development and management

Advanced knowledge of assessment methodology and implementation
