Position Information

The Support & Wellness Specialist will promote personal wellness planning using 8 dimensions of wellness for School of Medicine residents and students. Responsible for development and implementation of education, teambuilding, social events, promotional materials, and other projects that support the overall wellbeing of students, residents, fellows, and faculty. Provides group and individual support to UME & GME learners in wellness planning and mental health needs. Works with class elected wellness representatives in evaluating and addressing cohort needs and is responsible for outreach and promotion of mental health programs and resources. Develops wellness related programming and researches, compiles, and analyzes wellness services data. Will ensure regulatory and accreditation standards are met and that initiatives are implemented in support of the continued growth and success of UME & GME programs. The budgeted hiring maximum is up to $75,800.

Education

Education Requirements

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's Degree in; Health Promotion, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent. Preferred

Licenses

License Requirement
LCSW, LMFT, LEP and/or LPCC license or license eligible in California. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
Experience in researching in compiling and analyzing data. Preferred
Experience working with healthcare professionals. Preferred
Clinical experience providing mental health support/consultation. Required
Experience in providing supportive counseling and crisis intervention services, wellness education, prevention, health promotion, mental health, or a related field (preferably in higher education). Required
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Experience in program assessment and evaluation. Required
Experience working with diverse populations and underrepresented communities and 1st generation students. Required
Experience in wellness programming from a multi-dimensional perspective of wellness. Preferred

Special Conditions

Special Condition Requirement
Travel to various SOM and affiliate sites as needed. Required

Passion for growing, developing and empowering students on wellness initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to deliver clear and concise presentations and reports.
Ability to lead and motivate others.
Ability to quickly assess and problem solve in complex situations through effective listening, consultation, data analysis and critical thinking skills.
Ability to promote and market wellness programs, events and activities to gain learner involvement in wellness initiatives.
