Position Information

Under direction from the Director of Clinical Finance and the Chief Information Officer (CIO), this position will contribute to UCR Health's growth and success by serving as the technical expert for the use of business intelligence (BI) solutions using data extracts from Epic EMR and other data sources. This will include serving as the expert in using BI product sets to establish high impact performance analytic reports and dashboards relating to clinical operations and expansion. Specifically, will work with SOM IT, other analysts, end users, data owners, and BI and data management professionals to perform work. The BI solutions could include but not limited to PowerBI, Qlik, SSRS, OBIEE, Cognos, Spotfire, SAS and R.

Education Requirements

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Related degrees including computer science, information systems, engineering or related field. Preferred
Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. Preferred


Experience Requirement
Proficient in developing technical specifications, presentations, training materials, user documentation, and technical documentation. Demonstrated success with overseeing software development lifecycle for enterprise-wide BI projects Required
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
BI and analytics in the Healthcare, Education and Research. Preferred
Experience with BI and analytic tools such as PowerBI, Qlik, SSRS, OBIEE, Cognos, Spotfire, SAS and R. Preferred
Five (5) years of experience designing, developing, testing and implementing secure, scalable and high-performance BI and analytic solutions; at least 3 years of experience as PowerBI or Tableau Developer Required
Experience with dimensional data modeling and relational databases. Required

Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
Ability to train staff at a variety of technical skill levels. Experience in developing technical staff.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
Strong leadership, influencing, collaboration and negotiation skills.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices.
Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff.
Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.
