Greenhouse Technician

Position Information

Under direction performs the day-to-day greenhouse, lath house, and shade house activities and provides various exacting soil mix recipes for the greenhouses and researchers for the College of Natural Agricultural Sciences. Will perform day-to-day greenhouse semi-skilled activities in a wide array of greenhouses, lath houses and screen houses. Will include procurement of supplies, fulfilling work orders, steam pasteurizing, and maintain inventory of bulk soil mixing ingredients, such as sphagnum peat moss, fir bark shavings, macro and micro plant nutrients. Maintain Keep accurate and extensive records, replace a greenhouse technician. The budgeted hiring range is $44,244.72 to $47,877.84.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations.
Knowledge of basic plant neds/requirements such as temperatures, nutrients, light quality, day length.
Skill and knowledge in the operation of all equipment associated to perform this position.
Ability to use windows computer software, web technologies and email.
Skills in oral and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of horticulture.

Knowledge of working with research.
