Position Information
The BCOE/MESA Outreach coordinator will plan, oversee, and implement K-14 outreach initiatives out of the Bourns College of Engineering, including supporting the college’s MESA program. The Bourns College of Engineering boasts 18 Professional Student Organizations and over 120 faculty members. The college also houses the UCR MESA program, which actively works with 2,000 K-12 students and 40 K-12 teachers in the region. The BCOE/MESA Coordinator with help coordinate, plan and as needed, consolidate outreach efforts initiated by BCOE Student Orgs, faculty, and MESA. The coordinator will work with the MESA Coordinator to support MESA outreach events, particularly helping connect with Community Colleges within and outside the MESA Community College Network. The BCOE/MESA Coordinator’s efforts will help maximize our college's impact on our local and regional communities. The salary range for this position is $44,300 to $53,450.

Minimum Requirements
Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact.
Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education.
Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, plan, and coordinate educational events that meet specific needs for program participants,
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
Knowledge and understanding of K-14 education.

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
Thorough knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
Knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to admissions, housing, financial aid, and student support services.
Experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged and academically at-risk students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.
Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
