Position Information
The Technical Writer and Documentation Specialist will be responsible for supporting both operational and project work. In terms of operational work, this position is primarily responsible for standardizing and maintaining the organization’s IT Knowledge Base (KB) in ServiceNow, a resource that is critical to ITS' ability to provide 24/7 helpdesk support to campus. Standardizing includes developing KB policies, procedures, and guidance documents, including a style guide for support articles. Maintenance includes preparing, reviewing, revising, and maintaining technical documents, as well as providing hands-on support to KB contributors. The incumbent serves on the Communication & Training team and may be asked to assist in the creation of other written content, infographics, or training materials. In terms of project work, this position may be assigned to assist with large, campus-wide projects and change management efforts. Project work will require close collaboration with project leads and stakeholders.
This position is classified as primarily remote with occasional visits to campus as necessary. Working hours will be based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). This is a TWO-YEAR CONTRACT position with the potential to convert to a career position should permanent funding become available in the future. The budgeted salary amount for this position is up to $110,000/yr.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is ten weeks after their first date of employment.
