Position Information

The Women's Softball Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of an NCAA Division I Women's Softball program including, but not limited to, on field duties of hitting, infield or outfield; the identification and recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; supporting the academic limited to, the identification and recruitment of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes; supporting the academic progress of student-athletes; preparing and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition; fostering the academic, athletic, and personal growth of student-athletes; organizing team and staff travel arrangements; facilitating administrative duties, paperwork, video and scouting; managing the distribution and ordering of team equipment and supplies; coordinating and administering special softball events; managing and supervising facility maintenance and representing the sports program as needed in association with promoting and fundraising for the program.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training with a college-level program. Required

Certifications

Minimum Requirements

Demonstrated effective problem solving and communication skills, verbally and in writing.
Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
Specialized knowledge of the team sport or activity, as well as basic technical expertise in coaching principles.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with athletic participants.
Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making; be an effective problem solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Be a professional representative of the university and a role model for student-athletes, the Department, and community.

Specialized knowledge and use of technology and video to enhance player development and team performance.

Recruit student-athletes who can compete successfully on a level consistent with program expectations, and who can be successful in an academic environment and graduate from the university.

Specialized knowledge in managing but not limited to hitting, infield and outfield.

Be a positive team player. Set a positive example for the Department by supporting the mission and philosophy of the athletics program and the University.
