Position Information

The Academic Senate completes the shared governance mandate of the UC Board of Regents, to exercise direct control over academic matters of vital importance to the University. The Riverside Division of the Academic Senate is comprised of the Executive Council and more than 25 standing committees and ad hoc committees. Senate has oversight responsibility for mission critical policies including curricula, instruction, course approval, admissions, faculty promotion and tenure. Under the general direction and guidance of the Executive Director, the incumbent will provide administrative analytical support for committee and office operations. This post is for two positions in the Senate Office as part of a dynamic team.

One Analyst will support, advise, and handle administrative matters for the Committee on Rules & Jurisdiction, Committee on Physical Resources Planning, and Senate Secretary/Parliamentarian. They will organize Senate Division meetings and elections, and track, maintain, and archive legislation. They will update and maintain databases, and work closely with the Executive Director and Senate staff to review and update policies and procedures.

A second Analyst will support, advise, and handle administrative matters for the Committee on Research, Committee on Library & Scholarly Communications, Committee on Memorial Resolutions, and Senate award and ad hoc committees. They will work closely with the Executive Director on unit communications. They will serve as general administrative analytical support and liaison handling daily office operations including incoming communications, purchasing, travel, scheduling for Senate Leadership, events, and updating office records.

As committee chairs and membership rotate yearly, both Analysts will: Provide continuity and historical perspective to accommodate changes and maintain consistency. Conduct research, provide comparative reports, statistical analyses and historical summaries, and make judgments, decisions and recommendations necessary for smooth and consistent administrative oversight. Be a resource Analyst to chairs, committee members and campus community on policies and procedures. Maintain a complete record of all actions and decisions in accordance with Senate and University requirements. Oversee committee functions and assure committees carry out statutory responsibilities. Provide full range of committee management and coordination.

Both Analysts will function as members of the Senate Office team to participate in activities related to the Senate as a whole to assist committee members, colleagues, and campus community members with a variety of needs associated with Senate operation, and provide effective backup during peak periods, absence of peers, and vacancies. Analysts are expected to accept rotational committee assignments based upon operational priorities, needs and cross training efforts and other duties as assigned.

Adept with Microsoft and Google suite of applications, Adobe Acrobat, etc.

Currently, the position is in a hybrid work schedule. A condition of employment, incumbents must comply with the UC SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or submit a request for Exception no later than the applicable deadline. For new UC employees, the deadline is 10 weeks after their first date of hire.
