Position Information

The UC Riverside Office of University Communications provides campus leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing communications programs that foster increased awareness, understanding, and support of UCR’s mission, vision, accomplishments, and needs among its many internal and external constituencies. The Director of Video and Photography establishes and executes a vision for effective video and photo communications to support the university's strategic goals. The position oversees all aspects of the University Communications video production and photography operation, which includes but is not limited to supervising staff and managing content creation, equipment and asset inventory, workflow, digital video and photo assets, and projects.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of employment.

Please note: finalists will be required to show a portfolio of their work. Additionally, the budgeted amount for this position is up to $117,000. This position is eligible for hybrid accommodations until 9/2022 with a longer-term hybrid option considered.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Minimum Requirements

Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong knowledge of programmatic, financial, and operational concepts, principles, and best practices.
Strong knowledge of broadcast operations, including FCC rules/regulations.
Strong management skills to select, lead, direct, motivate, evaluate, and take corrective action with staff as required; strong skills to lead and motivate student employees and volunteers.
Strong knowledge of short and long range strategic planning.
Strong management skills to maintain fiscal integrity, formulate and implement operational procedures, and ensure compliance with all rules and regulations.
Knowledge of multimedia storytelling in an owned, earned, or shared media context.
Ability to collaborate and build consensus.
Advanced knowledge of editing software, including Adobe Premiere CC.
Mastery of video production and/or photography equipment, including cameras, lighting, and rigging.
Presentation and verbal communications skills.
Superior project management, production, and organizational skills.
Required Knowledge of current video production, photography, or multimedia trends, which may include aerial videography, 360, VR, and other tactics.
Leadership and organization skills required to manage projects at all stages of production.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance and management.
