Position Information

The Student Services Advisor develops and maintains the Graduate Student employment and appointment process, generates and issues appointment letters, audits entries into campus systems, and develops auditing and reporting to support this process. This position ensures compliance with all relevant bargaining unit contracts for graduate students and provides training to others on the appointment process. The advisor works with the college finance team on the CNAS scholarship program and manages the full cycle of the scholarship process from the fund disbursement, the announcement of available scholarships to students, coordination of faculty to score applicants, and distribution of award scholarships to recipients. The advisor is also responsible for CNAS graduate student data management including reporting and analysis for external agencies and internal constituents.

This position is currently being recruited under two separate postings, as an STDT SVC Advisor 4 recruitment #26884521 and STDT SVC Advisor 3 recruitment #26888955, and will be filled accordingly based on qualifications. Ability in problem identification and reasoning; ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuasion, leadership.
Skills in monitoring/assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements.
Knowledge of University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
Knowledge of University-specific student employment practices including appointment of students to represented positions.
Advanced skills in data reporting and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of the field's post-degree employment opportunities and practices.

Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
