Position Information

Under the direction of the Associate Director of the Exploration Center for Innovative Teaching and Engagement (XCITE), the Instructional Designer 1 serves focuses on supporting XCITE instructional design and faculty development efforts;
performs as an academic and instructional specialist in the adaptation of emerging pedagogical strategies and educational technologies; and acts as a liaison with the larger campus community, particularly in creating online learning activities and courses aligned with best practices in student-centered, active, authentic, and connected learning experiences. In this capacity, the instructional designer will work individually and participate in cross-functional teams, to help facilitate high-impact projects and programs that align with the UCR 2022 Strategic Plan and of Academic Excellence, Access, Diversity, and Engagement.

As part of the interview process, there will be a required portfolio sharing during the interview.

Budgeted salary range is $47,800.00 - $78,000. Expected starting salary is $75,000.

Minimum Requirements

Basic analytical skills to conduct analysis, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Basic knowledge of functional area.
Basic knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
Basic knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.
Working knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems.
Basic knowledge of adult learning theories and education methodologies.
Proficiency in analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Basic knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
