Position Information

Provides professional level financial/budget analysis and financial management for the Department of Statistics and various constituents. The incumbent provides high level administrative and technical support for the contract and grant pre-award and post-award fund administration. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and / or oversee research proposals, awards and / or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Works on proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations. Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and / or multiple sub awards. Performs complex budget/resource analysis including forecasting, retrieving data from campus financial systems, organizing and validating data, and the preparation of comprehensive reports for principal management. Reviews and reconciles monthly general ledgers and payroll expenditure (DOPE) reports. Provides ad hoc financial reports and analyses to Principals Investigators (PIs), Financial Services Supervisor, FOM, Directors, Department Chair and FAO as needed. Ensures compliance with internal audit requirements and University policies for all financial activities.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to support a diverse constituency.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Writing skills to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus.
Expert level proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Google Applications and Adobe Acrobat.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, work on multiple projects and complete assignments on time.
Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
