Position Information

The Multimedia & Classroom Technologies Operations Supervisor is responsible for support, processes, and procedures related to managing and maintaining technology in the University’s large venue areas, conference rooms, classrooms, labs, and for event support. This support is inclusive of working collaboratively across the University to define specifications, plan for changes, implement and maintain the technology for the defined use. Additionally, this position will collaborate across schools, departments and within IT to define effective standards, policies, processes and procedures for evaluation, acquisition, and ongoing management and maintenance of University technology spaces and assets to ensure the technology deployed in supported spaces throughout the University is working as designed while continually reviewing and refining documentation and policies for these assets. The incumbent will establish and maintain professional partnership relations with hardware and software vendors which enables early participation in testing and developing projects involving new and emerging technologies. This leader will, at times, represent ITS at campus-wide meetings and represent UCR at system-wide and off-campus meetings, seminars and conferences.


This position is classified as 100% on-site and the maximum budgeted hourly rate for this position is $45.81/hour.

Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver's License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles in order to drive either University-owned vehicle or personal vehicle to various sites on UCR's general campus as well as off campus sites (e.g. Palm Desert campus). Required

Minimum Requirements

High degree of knowledge of computer, media, and networking technology.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret intellectual property (IP) and copyright-related policies.
Advanced skills in leading all levels of event set up, operation, troubleshooting and technical direction. Advanced skills to develop technical solutions to meet complex user requirements.
Excellent project management organizational and communication skills.
Skills to determine priorities based on knowledge of work area. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of technical requirements of events and the technical requirements to execute the projects.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Advanced skills to determine staffing and scheduling priorities based on knowledge of institution.
Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
Advanced understanding of post-production processes including internet-based media distribution solutions.
Advanced understanding of media production methods and equipment and ability to use this information to troubleshoot the most complex systems.
Ability to assess campus or institutional needs for AV IT technology products and design services to meet those needs.
Demonstrated ability to work with others from diverse backgrounds. Advanced customer service and consultative skills to identify and implement required technology solutions.
