Circulation Services Coordinator

Position Information

The Circulation Services Coordinator is responsible for the direct supervision of staff and student employees, the opening of the library facility, and overseeing and managing the functional operation of the Circulation/Reserve Services Desk primarily in the Orbach Science Library. Will organize daily workflows, provide and administer all Circulation/Reserve Desk activities and services, coordinate emergency situations with other library departments, and coordinate staffing with other UCR Library Circulation Services Coordinators. Must be able to work flexible hours for staffing in backup situations including days, evenings, and weekends. Must be able to work Monday-Friday 7:15am - 4:15pm during the academic year.

This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA. Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
Recent supervisory or work leader experience (such as hiring, training, coaching, delegating, evaluating, and motivating others). Required
Experience working with the public in a service oriented environment. Required
Demonstrated experience using the circulation module of an Integrated Library Management System. Required
Experience working with MS Office, email programs, and the internet. Ability to learn specialized software. Required
Academic library experience. Preferred
Experience opening a library facility. Preferred
Experience handling safety and emergency situations. Preferred
Demonstrated experience evaluating, monitoring and balancing allocated budgets. Preferred
Experience using an Accounts Receivable System. Preferred

Special Conditions

Special Condition Requirement
Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and push loaded book trucks weighing up to approximately 250 lbs. Required
Ability to work flexible hours for staffing in backup situations, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours may vary from quarter to quarter. Required
Computers, printers, touch screen monitors, receipt printers, barcode and document scanners, telephones, calculators, photocopiers, typewriters, de/sensitizer units, paper cutter, paper shredder, book trucks, standard office equipment, building alarm, public address (PA) system and walkie-talkies. Required
Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check Required
Shift Work (hours outside standard Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM work hours) Required
