Position Information

Under the general direction of the Director for Residential Life, the Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a part of the Residential Life leadership team but also serves as a resource and colleague to those departments within Auxiliary Services (such as Housing Services and Dining & Hospitality Services). This position has primary responsibility for the development, coordination, and facilitation of programs, trainings, resources, and advocacy dedicated to student and staff diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity. The Associate Director will serve as a visible leader in the community with the authority to envision, strategize, advocate, implement, and document processes, initiatives, and measurable actions leading to greater DEI at UCR; specifically, within the on-campus resident community. This position works both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to foster a safe, supportive, and responsive environment grounded in the value of DEI. The budgeted hiring maximum is $85,000.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's degree. Preferred

Experience

6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Demonstrated experience in public speaking, formal presentations, facilitating workshops and training forums. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Ability to work independently.
Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Competencies.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated understanding of student development theories and practices.

Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and assess data related to student success, development, and training effectiveness.

Demonstrated understanding of mentorship and development techniques; and professional competencies.
