Position Information

The Executive Manager (EM) provides high-level technical executive support to the Vice Provost for International Affairs (VPIA) and the International Affairs (IA) leadership team. With a high degree of autonomy, the EM manages a complex and heavily impacted calendar, and travel coordination; anticipates and prepares for any contingencies and unique issues, determining and adjusting priorities accordingly using independent analysis and judgement. As a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge, the EM is an independent problem-solver; is flexible, adaptable, proactive, and observant; and can multi-task under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. The EM develops and administers internal, external, and sensitive communications on behalf of the VPIA and the IA organization. As gatekeeper to the VPIA and the International Affairs (IA) office, the EM drafts and authors correspondence on behalf of the VPIA. The EM exercises sound judgment, tact, confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of VPIA operations. Responsible for establishing and maintaining a professional and collaborative working environment. The EM recruits, manages, motivates, and mentors the Shared Services student workgroup for IA, to include front desk support. Collaborates with program directors to allocate student employee support based on project/program timelines. The Executive Manager also provides executive level support for the IA leadership team to include calendar support and travel coordination as needed.

Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Political acumen and sensitivities to the differing perspectives and political circumstances within all levels of the organization as well as the Office of the President and external constituencies.
Advising and counseling skills.
Small to mid-level project management skills.
Strong skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, alumni/donors, students and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
Advanced service orientation.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of common organization-specific computer applications.
Ability to use a high level of discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Knowledge of federal regulations such as FERPA.
Strong analytical/problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures.
