Position Information

The procurement analyst is responsible for all the purchasing functions within a large research department with over 40 faculty and annual expenditures exceeding $5 million. Conduct research to determine the best sources for purchases, considering a variety of factors including price, quality, availability, warranties, and delivery. Educate and guide end users about the appropriate sources and procedures for ordering different goods and services. Ensure purchases comply with UC, state and federal policies and guidelines, keeping backups of all transactions as appropriate. Coordinate with Receiver on deliveries of equipment and services. Provide excellent customer service to faculty, students, and researchers who may have urgent requests, change orders, cancellations, price issues, and various other procurement needs. Responsible for maintaining accurate records of the department's capital equipment and conducting an inspection of the inventory list on an annual basis. The budgeted hiring range for this position is $61,800 - $65,000.

There is one position available at various levels for the Procurement Analyst role. The department can recruit and fill this role at different levels within the position classification series. Experience using UCR on-line systems, including eBuy, facilities work order system and the Asset Management System Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Analytical skills necessary to evaluate the quality and cost effectiveness of multiple and complex purchasing options.
Strong level of proficiency in the use of standard spreadsheet and word processing software.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Knowledge of organization's departments and operations required in order to meet their procurement needs.
Ability to read and interpret terms and conditions of contracts.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong skills in the use of ERP/financial systems (such as Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, Banner, etc.).
